Season of Re-education & Renewing of the Mind ____________________________
(#19) Do I Really Need to Take This Course?
Q:
Is it necessary to do this "Season of Re-education & Renewing of the
Mind" course? I have read through
Form+U+la and wholeheartedly agree with the book. I was at this place before reading it.
... Do I really need to take this course?
This is only personal opinion... and please do what the Lord is leading you to do and work on at this time. As far as re-education or any of the book, any of Barb's tapes, even my Jumpstart book for my younger ones... reading them through or listening once is nice. But I'm sort of a slow learner. So maybe I got .05% of what Barb was trying to impart the first time through. The second time, I got a lot more, and then decided, I really understand this stuff now... and put it away for nearly a year... except wherever I decided to implement "whatever." Then last week, I pulled out the Form+U+la again and started skimming through it. This time re-reading about coming "Out of Fear and Burn-out." Now you'd think after twelve years of homeschooling with one of my seven graduated, I would have this down to a fine art. But... ahhhhh... it was so encouraging, even refreshing to sit back and even listen to Barb on tapes. What I received this time, was fresh manna from the Lord. To be able to look back, remembering where I was at the first couple times I listened to these tapes (ohhh how discouraged I'd been at one time) AND NOW to see what the Lord has been doing!!! It was just so encouraging! I also thought about how often we may read one of the gospels or I've read my favorite book Philippians about twenty times at least... so you can make yourself think that there's nothing new the Lord can open your eyes to. Well... that's where I'm glad to tell my intellect to go sit down and just let me read to my heart's content. Then the Holy Spirit is able to minister to me in a fresh way. It doesn't matter whether He wants to speak to me while reading His word, or a devotional or a great handbook on homeschooling. I don't want to put God in a box. I am excited to see what new things He is going to do in my heart, my children, our schooling, our family... and in the lives of people around us. So, that didn't answer much of your question to how necessary is it... but I will say, it won't hurt to hear it again... line upon line, precept upon precept. That's how God builds in our lives. Bless you, Sister!
A: [ from Barb] I can't tell you what only the Holy Spirit can tell you, but the thing I would suggest you do is to ask yourself these three questions:
1) Are you truly happy with what you are seeing in your home, your children, and your relationships with them.
2) Are you truly free to follow God's leading in the education of your children, or are you bound to your own "agenda"?
3) Are you even aware of God's leading? Do you seek Him and understand His ways, and hear His voice speaking to you? Not audibly, but just a deep inner sense of peace in knowing you are following Him?
If
the answer to any of the above is "No" then you are in need of this
course because that is where it was designed to point and lead you.

Q: Where to start, (or if I need the abbreviated version of the course) if I'm not burned out, but have been led on a three-year journey to the point of delight-directed learning. I have moved beyond the typical thinking about the school systems and canned curriculum, and have ordered Marilyn's books, which I am getting a lot out of. I guess the question is, where do I go from here, since I'm beyond the re-education, it would seem, but not set on how to proceed from here.
A:
[
from Barb again] The course is multi-faceted. See my article called
"The Stitchery" ~ it will give you the "bigger picture" of what's happening in you right now.
